Berlin The pandemic phase of Corona is over, but Sars-Cov-2 remains present even in the endemic. Experts from various disciplines explain what this means in the coming months and where research and measures are necessary.
1. Immunology and vaccinations
Andreas Radbruch, German Rheumatism Research Center Berlin:
I expect that immunity to severe infection- or vaccine-induced serum antibody disease progression will be sustained and not need to be boosted. It’s not about ‘neutralizing’ antibodies, but about antibodies that recognize the viruses, clump them together and mark them for elimination. This means that no nationwide ‘booster’ vaccinations against Sars-Cov-2 or new variants will be necessary.
