Electric car maker considers building European plant

The automobile manufacturer wants to go into series production with the Ocean. In contrast to Tesla and others, Fisker has the electric cars built to order.

new York Electric car manufacturer Fisker is considering setting up a European car plant. “We are currently considering building the Pear in Europe,” said founder Henrik Fisker in an interview with Handelsblatt. This can be done with a partner or alone. The decision should be made in the middle of next year.

The new, inexpensive Pear electric car is intended to close a gap in the range: According to Fisker, the planned mid-range model will be available for less than 30,000 euros – a price that neither Tesla nor the German manufacturers have yet achieved.

“The German premium manufacturers and even the normal manufacturers are withdrawing from the market for cheaper vehicles,” said Fisker. With this premium strategy, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and VW “made very short-term profits. Ultimately, however, this will not last.”
