Dax gives in – but the breather of the previous week should come to an end soon

Dusseldorf The German stock market started the new week with slight losses. The Dax closed 0.4 percent lower at 14,379 points on Monday. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 recorded similar losses.

However, there are increasing signs that the so-called sideways consolidation of the past week will soon come to an end and the Dax will climb again. Accordingly, Konstantin Oldenburger from the online broker CMC Markets says: “If there are no disruptions, the Dax has the best chance of continuing its upward trend after the healthy break this week.”

A detailed look back helps to understand this prognosis. The leading index has slipped by 300 points in the past five trading days, but on Friday it was able to mark a new high of the 2500-point rally since the end of September.

The new high is now 14,457 and still stands. On Monday afternoon, the Dax was up to 14,426 points, but then fell back a little.
