Altcoin Sui Network Rivaling Aptos Launches Its Testnet

The layer-1 Blockchain Sui Network, created by former Meta engineers, has come one step closer to launch by announcing the launch of its Testnet, a place where the technology’s applicability can be further studied.

The testnet “Wave 1” will be used to identify a core group of operators with experience in decentralized coordination and debugging for validators and full ports, the company shared on Twitter.

Sui has gained a lot of momentum over the past few months, and Sui, another tier 1 set up by former Meta employees, is seen as a competitor to Aptos Blockchain. Aptos and Sui both use the same programming language called Move.

However, in the statement made yesterday by Aptos, it was stated that Google Cloud and Aptos Labs have expanded their partnership again and Google Cloud is running a validator on Aptos.

In September, Mysten Labs, the company behind Sui Blockchain, raised $300 million in a funding round led by the now-bankrupt FTX Ventures.

The funding round also valuated Mysten Labs at $2 billion. In October, the developers of Sui Blockchain launched Mist units to improve the network’s payment system.

Sui’s developer network (devnet) will remain alive and will be used by developers to test and build their decentralized applications (dapps).
