Munich The European and American stock indices recorded the strongest jump in prices for more than two years last week. The reason for this stock market rally was the weakened price pressure in the USA. This increased investors’ hopes that the US Federal Reserve would stop raising interest rates aggressively. In this environment, yields on US government bonds eased and also helped the stock markets to gain momentum.

Are we now facing a sustainable trend reversal? Or is it just a temporary backlash before further falls?

Speculation on moderate rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve is on shaky ground. At least Fed banker Christopher Waller warned that investors shouldn’t focus on the rate of interest rate hikes, but on the prime interest rate, and this is still a long way off.
