Berlin Since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian media landscape has changed dramatically. Ukrainian television consists only of news, 24 hours a day. “Marathon – Unified News” is the name of the program that is broadcast simultaneously by the three largest private and two state-owned channels in Ukraine.
Each of the broadcasters creates several hours of broadcasting time, and the result is then shown by all five television channels. The state made this decision in the first days of the war.
Recently it was announced that television must continue to broadcast in this form until the war is over. The Ukrainian Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko is also responsible for information policy. Before joining the government in June 2020, he ran the 1+1 TV channel. He had previously worked as a journalist himself.
