Dusseldorf, Frankfurt So now there is still a strike: After the ground staff, the Lufthansa pilots also want to go on strike on Friday. All departures from Germany of the core company Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo are to be struck, as the union Cockpit (VC) announced.
Among other things, the pilots’ union is demanding 5.5 percent more money this year and automatic inflation compensation from 2023.
Above all, the pilots’ representation is a thorn in the side of the management’s strategy of shifting more and more traffic from the core brand to airlines like Eurowings. There, the personnel costs in the cockpit are significantly lower, it is argued. But what does reality look like?
The Handelsblatt explains what exactly is being argued about – and how differently pilots earn at the parent company Lufthansa and the subsidiary Eurowings.
