Dusseldorf Until July 2020, he was the top anti-corruption officer in Hesse. Then the Frankfurt chief public prosecutor B. was arrested at his workplace in the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office – on suspicion of corruption. Now the 55-year-old is expected to appear in court soon. The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt has brought charges against him and an entrepreneur friend.
The dimensions of the alleged crimes are enormous: on almost 260 pages, the prosecutors put the former colleague on 101 counts of commercial bribery, 55 counts of serious breach of trust and tax evasion in nine counts.
In the period between 2015 and 2020 alone, B. is said to have received bribes of 280,000 euros. In addition, the investigators accuse him of having evaded taxes of 185,000 euros. The state of Hesse is said to have suffered a total of almost 645,000 euros in financial losses.
