Frankfurt It should be good news for investors: If the entry into the Italian ITA is successful, it will initially not be as expensive for Lufthansa as expected. According to information from financial circles, Europe’s largest airline group will initially only be involved with little of its own money. Most of the financing will be provided by the Swiss shipping company MSC.
Shareholders and analysts had expressed concerns in recent months as to whether Lufthansa would be able to handle such a takeover so soon after the state rescue during the pandemic. Alex Irving from Bernstein Research, for example, complained that a possible investment in ITA would make the hope of an improved use of the capital dwindle.
