As a result of an unprecedented vote in the past weeks, the JUNO token of millions of dollars in the hands of a whale allegedly cheating on the airdrop was seized by the community.
Cheating Whale’s Confiscated Funds Accidentally Burned By Developers
With the latest development, it was announced that the confiscated funds were sent to an incorrect address as a result of an error, rather than an address controlled by the JUNO community.
As a result of the JUNO Proposal 20 vote, it was announced that the Japanese investor Takumi Asano cheated $ 120 million in the distribution of the airdrop, and it was decided to take away all the tokens from the whale.
With the voting completed last week after a few days hiatus, the code programmed to automatically transfer currently $36 million worth of fraudulent funds to an account controlled by the JUNO community was supposed to work, but things didn’t go as planned.
With the code running, a program error occurred and the 3 million confiscated JUNO tokens were sent to an erroneous address on the Blockchain that neither the cheating whale nor the JUNO community could access.
“Altcoin Developers Made a Copy-Paste Error”
Andrea Di Michele, nicknamed “Dimi”, one of the founding developers of the altcoin, said in his statement that the wrong transfer was due to a “copy-paste” error:
“When I gave the address of the smart contracts to the developer team that will perform the transfer, I pasted the address of the smart contracts and added the transaction hash data (the code that confirms the transaction) just below. However, I did not specifically specify that this data is the transaction hash, I just pasted it.”
According to Dimi, the developers copied the transaction hash data that resembled the wallet address instead of the address. As a result, millions of dollars of funds were sent to an address that no one could access.
None of the 120 validators who made verification transactions on the blockchain noticed that this address was wrong.
JUNO Whale, $36 Million Confiscated, Responded to the Incident with Laughing
Takumi Asano, the whale whose altcoins were taken away, responded to this development with a laugh on Twitter.

Despite this, the JUNO developers seem determined to have the funds transferred to the planned address. In the update content, which is already planned to be brought to the platform, it is aimed to rewrite JUNO’s Blockchain data and transfer the funds sent to the wrong address to the planned address with this regulation.
